Meta-owned WhatsApp is Set to introduce Privacy Feature: Know More

By Media Infotainment Team | Tuesday, 14 May 2024

WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is rumored to be rolling out a feature in a bid to strengthen its privacy measures. This feature is set to limit the users from taking screenshots of profile pictures on iOS devices.

A message will prompt users as indicated by a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo. This will notify them that the action of capturing screenshots of profile photos has been curbed so as to safeguard privacy within the app for everyone.

This feature was proposed to create a vanguard for privacy by preventing users from capturing and disseminating profile pictures without the consent of the owner. However, if we speak of a loophole, individuals could still utilize alternative devices or cameras to capture the images. But this in-app restriction on screenshotting is anticipated to significantly drop the unauthorized sharing of profile photos.

Furthermore, if we speak of this WhatsApp feature, it is poised to play a critical role in mitigating the risk of profile photos being exploited or even distributed without the owner’s consent. Also, the report asserts that this feature is currently in the development phase and is expected to be integrated into a future update of the given application.

WhatsApp, in tandem, is purportedly testing another feature which is focused towards enhancing user experience across Android platforms. This new feature, which is dubbed the "filter", will furnish users with a dedicated tool which can swiftly compile a list of their preferred contacts and groups from the chats tab itself.

This addition of features is poised to empower users by facilitating easy access and prioritization of specific conversations with favorite contacts and groups; thereby providing a seamless communication experience for the users.
