Konami has announced the big news at the Sony State of Play 2025. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is the remake of the 2004 masterpiece Metal Gear Solid 3.

Snake Eater will be released on August 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XS and PC. Fans of the stealth-action franchise are eagerly anticipating this.

Set in the year 1964, you will enter the shoes of the operative Naked Snake, a FOX operative on a plush mission.

Your job? Rescue a Soviet rocket scientist, destroy a nuclear superweapon known as the Shagohod, and fight against The Boss, a former mentor of Snake who has turned traitor, all in the peak of the Cold War.

It follows the plot of the original fairly closely, retaining the trademark spy-thriller atmosphere of espionage, betrayal, and survival, but is getting a major facelift with real-time graphic injuries, blood, and camo.

Konami’s keeping the heart of the original intact—no big story changes here. You’ll sneak through jungles, meet familiar faces like Major Zero, Para-Medic, and Ocelot, and even play the quirky Snake vs. Monkey minigame (PS5 exclusive). Plus, a multiplayer mode is coming later in 2025 after the main launch.

You can pre-order now in Standard, Deluxe, or Collector’s Editions, each packed with cool bonuses for early buyers. Konami’s promising a “polished, high-quality” game, easing worries from fans after the series took a backseat since 2018’s Metal Gear Survive.
