Bradley, Liverpool's 22-year-old right-back, earned Player of the Match with an 8/10 rating. He contained Vinicius Junior, who received a yellow card for a foul, and managed the ball in stoppage time as Vinicius fell. Trent Alexander-Arnold, facing his former club after joining Madrid in the summer, entered as a late substitute amid boos during warm-ups and his introduction. Xabi Alonso supported his player: "We needed his skills... He handled it professionally."
Real Madrid, under Alonso, created few chances despite efforts from Florian Wirtz and Kylian Mbappé. Jude Bellingham and Vinicius remained quiet, and substitute failed to change the score. Courtois kept the deficit to one goal.
