The IPL 2027 retention deadline has been extended to November 17, giving franchises two additional days to finalise their player retention and release lists ahead of the upcoming mini-auction. The original deadline was November 15.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to hold its mini-auction on December 16 in Goa. The revised timeline gives teams additional time to assess their squads, plan player releases and prepare their auction strategies.

IPL 2027 Auction Deadline Extended for Franchises

The extended deadline allows franchises more time to make decisions about their existing players before submitting their final retention and release lists.

Once the teams submit their lists, the IPL will share a registered pool of available players during the week leading up to the auction. The league will also provide details about the order of player sets to help franchises prepare their bidding strategies.

Two Player Trades Confirmed Ahead of IPL 2027 Auction

Two player trades have already been confirmed ahead of the IPL 2027 auction.

In another trade, Delhi Capitals have sent fast bowler T Natarajan to Sunrisers Hyderabad in exchange for leg spinner Zeeshan Ansari.

Meanwhile, the dates for the IPL 2027 season have not yet been finalised by the league organisers.

IPL Mega Auction Scheduled Ahead of 2028 Season

The December 16 mini-auction will mark the end of the IPL's current player cycle. A mega auction is scheduled to take place ahead of the 2028 season, marking the beginning of the league's next media rights cycle.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet released the media rights tender for the upcoming cycle.

In 2022, the IPL sold its media rights for Rs 48,390.5 crore, equivalent to approximately $6.2 billion. The deal established the league among the world's most valuable sporting properties.
