IPL 2024: BCCI has Announced Substantial Reward Money for Curators and Groundskeepers
Incentives for groundskeepers and curators who put in a lot of work during the just ended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 have been announced by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. The competition came to an end on Sunday, May 26, at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, when KKR defeated SRH by 8 wickets in the championship match.
A "token of appreciation" of Rs 25 lakhs would be given to each of the 10 regular venues' groundskeepers, according to a statement released by Shah. Additionally, he said that the ground crew at the other three locations—Guwahati, Dharamsala, and Vizag—would each receive a prize of Rs. 10 lakh.
IPL 2024 was a high-scoring tournament with plenty of runs as all ten teams relished batting. Throughout the competition, records fell as the pitches proved to be genuine gems. Last month at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, SRH, who were not able to win the title, set the record for the highest team total in the IPL with a 287 for 3, against Faf du Plessis' RCB.
They had defeated MI in Hyderabad with a huge score of 277 for 3 before. PBKS established the record for the most successful run-chase in IPL history, although they were unable to advance to the playoffs. They located 262 versus the Kolkata's Eden Gardens Knight Riders.
The most sixes struck in a single season in IPL history—up to 1260—were hit during the competition. Jake Fraser and McGurk of DC scored half-centuries off just fifteen balls twice. Following the flawless precision of bowlers like Sunil Narine and Jasprit Bumrah, bowlers also experienced their fair share of happiness.
