Key Highlights

  • Intelsat approved by IN-SPACe for four geostationary satellites to support India's media sector.
  • Secured business from three top Indian media companies, enhancing operations and media connectivity in India.

Intelsat, based in the United States, has become one of the first foreign satellite operators to receive approval from the Indian government to give direct satellite coverage to domestic media companies, allowing the corporation to extend its operations in the region.

Intelsat earned new business from three of India's top media businesses after receiving approval from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), according to a statement released here. The IN-SPACe certification allows Intelsat to operate four geostationary satellites (IS-17, IS-20, IS-36, and IS-39) that provide C-band coverage across India. These satellites will support content delivery and dissemination both within and beyond of the country's borders.

"Our large satellite network, which includes four satellites covering the region, will give Indian broadcasters with dependable, high-quality connection solutions to fulfill their changing requirements.

This authorization allows us to better serve our clients and contribute to India's expanding media environment," Kharod stated.
