In today's BCCI Interview for Coach's Position, Gautam Gambhir is Expected to Set Full Command on Indian Team
According to sources, BCCI secretary Jay Shah and other authorities will interview former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday for the role of head coach of the men's cricket team in Mumbai.
"Auti (Gautam Gambhir) will go to Mumbai at about 1:00 PM today in order to attend the interview at the BCCI Headquarters. "The new head coach of the men's cricket team will soon be revealed," the BCCI said, practically confirming that he will be the team's next head coach given their approval of his proposed terms. The meeting is set for 2-4 pm, an insider with BCCI informed IANS.
GG's requirements to coach India
In his application for the head coach post, Gambhir made a few conditions of the BCCI, which IANS believes the organization has already agreed and is eager to name him. These demands included complete control over the squad and distinct teams for white-ball and red-ball cricket.
The deadline for applications to be considered for the India head coach position is May 27th, as announced by the BCCI. The new head coach of the Indian men's national team will oversee all three versions from July 2024 to December 2027, according the job description.
Extended term of Rahul Dravid will expire following the T20 World Cup
After the 2021 T20 World Cup in November, Dravid's initial contract as India's head coach came to an end with the 2023 ODI World Cup held at home. It was then extended till this year's T20I tournament.
In a recent statement, Gambhir made the claim that "coaching the national team is the biggest honour."
"I'd want to be the Indian team's coach. Being a national team coach is the greatest honor there is. The 42-year-old had stated, "You are speaking for 140 crore Indians as well as people everywhere in the world.
Gambhir was a member of the Indian squads that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
