ICC Champions Trophy 2025: 110 Mn TV Viewers in First Three Matches
According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) data, the first three matches of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, including India's match against Bangladesh, drew 110 million TV viewers aged two and up.
The reach among the core male audience aged 15 and up was 46 million in both urban and rural markets. The average TV Rating (TVR), which accounts for audience reach and time spent, was 1.21 for the MF 2+ TG category and 1.68 for the Male 15+ ABC TG (target group) category.
For the match between India and Bangladesh, the average TVR was 2.04 for the MF 2+ audience and 2.8 for the M 15+ ABC audience. The first three games had a decent viewership, which should increase as the tournament progresses, according to Navin Khemka, CEO South Asia, EssenceMediacom.
"It's a decent rating considering it's a longer format than T20. While ODI (one day international) ratings have declined in recent years, consumption has shifted to multi-screen viewing as digital platforms have grown in popularity. People no longer spend seven or eight hours glued to their television screens. "A lot of consumption is taking place on mobile devices," he added.
