Google Introduces Experimental AI Mode for Search in India

By Media Infotainment Team | Wednesday, 25 June 2025

Google has introduced its new, enhanced AI Mode Search to India, its first international release of the feature since a successful U.S. launch. The experiment released on June 24, and available through the Google Search Labs in English, is designed to change the way users give complex queries, providing easier and interactive search. Using its own variant on the Gemini 2.5 model created by Google, AI Mode allows asking more layered and personalized questions and provides summaries, context and follow-up links, all made by the AI, as well as the traditional web links.

This feature, which has been tested in the U.S. earlier this year, combines sophisticated reasoning with multimodal interaction, encompassing voice and image search capability of exploring topics. Google accentuates that AI Mode is an extension of Google core measures of qualifying and ranking, which will work reliably striving to achieve high-quality answers despite its experimentalism, which can include inaccuracy. Participants can enable the option by going to labs.google.com, and once enabled users can find a new dedicated tab on the search results page that links to the AI Mode.

This launch also targets the diverse and the tech-savvy population of India where voice and image-based queries are popular and increasing. By using this feature, Google strives to acquaint themselves with more real feedback on it with a view to working out the feature to be more precise, and provide results more promptly and relevant. The blog post made by the company says that the company aims to bring something similar where searching becomes like talking with the oracle in the computer, a transition to the dialogue system.

With the growing competition in the field with such applications as ChatGPT and Perplexity AI, this action helps Google reinforce its positions in the country where it is one of the largest consumer bases, India. The option has been launched on both the mobile and web version and it is expected that the user turns it on to have a smarter search than before.

Google’s experimental approach underscores its commitment to evolving search technology, with India playing a pivotal role in shaping its AI-driven future.
