Donald Trump Makes a Comeback to X, Releases a New Ad Campaign
With a number of campaign-related tweets, former US President Donald Trump has made a major comeback to the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter. This represents a significant change in Trump's social media approach, as he had mainly avoided the network since Elon Musk, the owner of X, reinstated him in 2022.
Remarkably, in 2021, X and Twitter permanently barred Donald Trump from disseminating false information that led to the attack on Congress on January 6, 2021.
Trump's recent actions on X seem to be solely motivated by his campaign. Political ads are shared on his account. One of the most well-known pieces, with over 14 million views, discusses the status of the country right now.
"Compared to when I was president, are you in a better place now? Our economy is in ruins. Our boundary has vanished. Our country is deteriorating. Restore the affordability of the American Dream. Restore safety to America. Restore Greatness to America! #TrumpOnX.
Trump's tweets on border security, the economy, and his catchphrase "Make America Great Again" are reminiscent of themes from his past campaigns.
Trump's account has also posted criticism of political rivals and campaign slogans.
The former president spoke with Elon Musk on the platform's Spaces at the same time that he returned to X. There was over an hour-long delay in the event owing to technical issues, which were purportedly caused by a possible Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) assault.
When they finally spoke, Musk commended Trump for how he handled a recent attempt on his life at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally. The epidemic, illegal border crossings, and Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump's electoral opponent, were among the many subjects discussed throughout the conversation.
When did Trump get banned from Twitter and X?
President Trump's account was permanently banned by Twitter (now X) in January 2021 as a result of his continuous violations of the platform's regulations.
This judgment represented the most stringent disciplinary measure a major social media company had ever taken against Trump, who regularly disseminated false material, shared government policies, and criticized opponents using his account.
Twitter was under pressure for a number of years to stop disseminating Trump's frequently incorrect and misleading tweets. Demands to completely ban Donald Trump from the platform have grown.
