Cult Fitness Kicks Off 'Do Nothing Class' to Celebrate Rest in Fitness
Cult, a popular fitness brand, rolled out a National Lazy Day back this year in August, national lazy Day, to help illuminate the power of rest in a fitness journey called Do Nothing Class.
The campaign took place at 30 centers in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad where members were invited to come along and give their traditional high-energy workout a rest and enjoy a session of relaxation.
As a statement, it is a big step in proving that relaxing is as important a factor to becoming fit as working out.
The campaign’s brand film sets the scene perfectly. Members showed up expecting a tough workout but found hammocks, bean bags, and trainers in comfy loungewear instead.
No jumping jacks or sprints here—just breathing exercises, sipping tea, or kicking back in massage chairs. Fun signs like “Effort’s on hold today” and “Unleash your inner chill” drove home the point: rest isn’t slacking, it’s essential for progress.

Siva Kumar Pedhapati, Cult’s head of brand marketing, explained, “People often think fitness is all about pushing hard, but recovery is where the real gains happen. This campaign is about finding balance and embracing rest as part of the process.” By making rest a core part of its message, Cult is challenging the idea that fitness is only about grinding it out.
The ‘Do Nothing Class’ was a hit both in-person and online, striking a chord with people looking for a more balanced approach to staying healthy. Science backs this up—rest helps your body repair and grow stronger, making it a non-negotiable part of any fitness plan. Cult’s campaign has sparked a bigger conversation about valuing downtime without feeling guilty.

With this initiative, Cult is reinforcing its community vibe and shaking up traditional fitness norms. As Pedhapati put it, “We’re all about progress and connection at Cult. We’ll keep pushing for conversations that celebrate every part of fitness—effort and ease included.” This campaign cements Cult’s place as a brand that’s not afraid to rethink what wellness really means.
