Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended their five-game defeat run through a splendid five-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The exciting charge from the crowd at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow pushed CSK to track down 167 runs and create a match-winning 168/5 finish with three deliveries remaining. The match belonged to MS Dhoni after his late show and Shivam Dube's decisive batting performance.

LSG went first after CSK opted to bowl, putting up 166/7 in their 20 overs. Skipper Rishabh Pant played a captain’s knock, scoring 63 off 49, while Mitchell Marsh added a steady 30 off 25. CSK’s bowlers, though, kept LSG in check, Ravindra Jadeja was the star, grabbing 2 wickets for just 24 runs. Khaleel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj struck early, sending Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran back cheaply. Ayush Badoni (22) and Abdul Samad (20) tried to up the pace late on, but LSG fell short of a bigger total.

CSK’s chase kicked off with a bang. Rachin Ravindra lit up the field with 37 off 22, and newbie Shaik Rasheed impressed with 27 off 19. Things got dicey when LSG’s spinners, led by Ravi Bishnoi’s tight 2/18, rattled CSK, leaving them at 90/5. With 56 runs needed off the last 30 balls, the crowd erupted as Dhoni strolled in. He smashed an unbeaten 26 off 11 balls, four boundaries and a monster six, flipping the game on its head. Dube stayed calm, scoring 43 not out off 37, and sealed the win with a boundary that sent fans wild.

The Ekana pitch was a bit of a puzzle, slowing down and helping the spinners. The night stayed warm, about 30°C, with no dew to mess with the bowlers. Pant admitted LSG could’ve used another 10-15 runs, while Dhoni, who bagged Player of the Match, gave a nod to his team’s grit.

This win lifts CSK’s spirits, pulling them off the bottom of the standings, while LSG, with four wins from seven, slide to fourth. The IPL 2025 action is getting hotter, and both teams are ready to keep fighting.
