Champions Trophy 2025: PCB is requesting BCCI for Documented Evidence regarding Travel Restrictions

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to enhance written confirmation regarding the Indian government’s denial to grant authority for the Indian cricket team to travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy. This query comes amid agitation that the Indian team might have to make a choice out, citing security concerns.

According to a source from the PCB, there is urgency regarding the matter, stating, “ If the Indian government has indeed denied permission, it is crucial for the BCCI to supply a formal letter to the ICC. we expect to be informed about travel plans at least 5-6 months ahead of the tournament”.

The ICC’s annual conference, scheduled for July in Colombo, will not address the ‘Hybrid Model’ used to enable India’s participation in the 2023 Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka. However, the ICC has granted additional funds in expectation of a potential two-country tournament.

The PCB has acceded a preliminary schedule to the ICC, surrounding all of India’s matches, including a key encounter against Pakistan scheduled for March 1st. The tournament is set to start in Karachi on February 19th and end in Lahore on March 9, with a retain day scheduled for March 10.

BCCI sources have stated that presently, touring to Pakistan seems doubtful, while acknowledging that the ICC is making preparations for potential alternative arrangements if circumstances evolve. “The ICC Management is considering additional costs if matches need to be played outside Pakistan” , the source stated.
