Carlo Ancelotti Says Kylian Mbappe doesn't need to Play Left Wing
The 25-year-old made a high-profile move to Madrid this summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended. At PSG, Mbappe mostly played on the left wing and became one of football’s top scorers. Since joining Real Madrid, however, he has played as a striker in all three of his La Liga appearances but has yet to score. Despite the struggle to score these, Ancelotti remains confident in his boy , stating, "Mbappe is a fantastic striker. He's very fast and moves well off the ball," after a 3-0 victory over Valladolid.
Vinicius Jr. currently occupies the left side of Madrid's attack, where he has seen significant success in recent seasons. As a result, Mbappe will continue to play centrally, a position in which he excelled during his Madrid debut by scoring in their UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta.
However, his first two La Liga performances have disappointed the fans, with criticism directed at his failure to score. In his second Bernabéu appearance, he was substituted for fellow summer signing Endrick, who scored his first goal for the club in stoppage time. Despite these early challenges, Mbappe remains positive about his start in Madrid. "I’m very happy," Mbappe said on Real Madrid's official TV channel. "I started at the Bernabéu with a win and we earned the three points."
"It was a fantastic night. The fans were amazing. We aimed to win our first game here, and playing in this stadium is a dream. We have another match on Thursday, and we want to win again," Mbappe said. He won't have to wait long for another opportunity to score his first league goal, as Madrid will visit Las Palmas on Thursday evening.
