  • Celebration turns to chaos as fans perform CPR, rescue children after car plows into crowd

Merseyside Police arrested a 53-year-old local man driving the grey Ford Galaxy that hit the crowd. Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said this isn’t being treated as terrorism, and it seems like a one-off incident. The driver didn’t flee, and police aren’t looking for anyone else. They’re working to figure out what caused this and are asking folks not to spread rumors or share upsetting videos online.

Emergency crews jumped into action fast. The North West Ambulance Service said 27 people, including four children—one badly hurt—were rushed to hospitals. Another 20 got treatment right there for smaller injuries. People who saw it described a terrifying moment: the car sped into the crowd, causing screams and chaos. Some brave fans stepped up, pulling kids out from under the car and giving CPR to those who needed it.

Witnesses were shaken up. One said the car was honking like crazy before it plowed into people. Videos on social media showed fans banging on the car’s windows, trying to stop it just before disaster struck. Liverpool City Council leader Liam Robinson said the crash cast a “painful shadow” over what was supposed to be a proud day celebrating Liverpool FC’s 20th top-flight title, a huge milestone.
