According to Navi Mumbai Police, a fresh charge sheet against five people accused of plotting the murder of Bollywood actor Salman Khan includes charges of conspiracy to commit murder and other serious offenses. The suspects are connected to the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

On April 14, two motorcycle-riding attackers opened fire outside Khan's Bandra home, resulting in the arrest of many suspects. As per the accusations filed, the actor's assassination was reportedly planned by the Bishnoi gang under a ₹25 lakh hit. The plan developed between August 2023 and April 2024, a period of several months.

According to investigations, the group intended to purchase sophisticated weapons such as M16 rifles, AK-47s, AK-92s, and the Turkish-made Zigana handgun, which was previously used in the May 29, 2022, murder of Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala.

Beyond simply obtaining firearms, the plot included a well thought out monitoring operation. A network of between sixty and seventy people, according to the charge sheet, kept a careful eye on Khan's whereabouts.

According to sources, this widespread monitoring included his home in Mumbai, his farm in Panvel, and even the Goregaon Film City, where he frequently films movies.

The charge sheet also disclosed that the assassination was carried out by underage individuals. These young people supposedly waited for orders to carry out the attack from important members of the gang who are said to be headquartered in North America, Goldie Brar and Anmol Bishnoi.

Following the shooting outside Salman Khan's residence, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited with him and promised to provide him with every assistance available. "I've assured Salman Khan that the government is on your side. The two defendants are in custody. They're going to be questioned. We'll investigate the case's core. There would be no escapees, Shinde had declared.
