Bingo! Brings Back Indian Ghosts with a Funny Halloween Protest

By Media Infotainment Team | Thursday, 30 October 2025

Halloween is here, and while many in India are busy dressing up as vampires and witches from the West, ITC’s snack brand Bingo! has a different idea. The company has launched a fun new campaign called “Desi Bhoot Bachao” (Save Our Indian Ghosts) to remind everyone that our own homegrown ghosts are just as scary—and way more interesting.

The campaign is a short, humorous video styled like a breaking news report. It shows angry “protesters” on the streets, holding signs and shouting for Indian ghosts to get their spotlight back. You’ll see classic desi spirits like the chudail with long hair, the dayan on her broom, and other spooky figures from Indian folklore. A fake news anchor reports live, asking why Halloween parties in India are full of foreign ghosts when our own have so much more flavor.

The message is simple and clever: Indian ghosts come with masala, drama, and real desi attitude—why settle for plain old Dracula? To tie it all together, Bingo! promotes its Achari Masti chips as the perfect snack to enjoy while cheering for local haunts.

Sudish Balan, creative head at Tonic Worldwide (the agency behind the campaign), said, "At this point, Halloween parties in India have more Draculas than Dayans. With Desi Bhoot Bachao, we wanted to haunt that thought – quite literally. Bingo! has always celebrated the madness of our culture, and our bhoots definitely have more masala than their videsi cousins."

The video is full of funny moments—like protesters chanting slogans and “experts” arguing on TV panels about ghost rights. Viewers can even join in by sending their own protest slogans through Bingo!’s website.

At its heart, the campaign is about fun, pride, and a little cultural pushback. It’s Bingo!’s way of saying: let’s enjoy Halloween, but don’t forget where we come from—and grab a pack of chips while you’re at it.
