Babar on Future Following Pakistan's Shocking World Cup Exit

The Men in Green unexpectedly and prematurely exited the present T20 World Cup, and captain of Pakistan Babar Azam outlined the next steps. Pakistan, drawn into Group A, lost to their fierce rival, India, after suffering consecutive losses to the co-hosts, the United States.

Despite their two consecutive victories, they were unable to turn around their terrible season and guarantee a position in the Super 8.

After winning their final match of the tournament against Ireland on Sunday, Babar admitted that Pakistan had quality players at their disposal but that as a unit they fell short.

We possess a talented group of athletes. We must return home, have a conversation, assess our weaknesses, and then resume. We weren't a good squad and couldn't close off games," Babar remarked at the post-game press conference.

Pakistan held Ireland to 106/9, but their middle order collapsed against Irish quickies, virtually ruining their chase.

As wickets continued to fall at the other end, Babar remained on one end, acting as the anchor. At the end, Shaheen Afridi—who was brilliant with the ball—came in and hit two maximums to give his team a three-wicket victory.

In all facets of the game, Babar evaluated both his own and the Pakistani team's performance and concluded that they were lacking in the batting category.

"We had a strong finish. We bowled well and got wickets early. We didn't do well in the batting, but we still won with the tailenders. Conditions were ideal for our fast bowlers, therefore the bowling was terrific. When we batted, we had opportunities to defeat India and the USA despite a few blunders. I'll bat third if necessary and open if the team needs me to. I'll do whatever the team situation requires," he said in closing.

Because to his incredible ball-handling performance, Shaheen Afridi was named Player of the Match. The 24-year-old conceded 22 runs at a meager economy of 5.50 despite ripping off three wickets in his four-over stint.

His period on the powerplay stunned Ireland and set Pakistan up for a low-scoring pursuit.

Wicket was advocating for the forthcoming ball. We simply attempted to attack early and focus on our strong points. Our plans worked out well. We were attempting to hit our areas, and my suggestion was to bowl more fully. "We did not play the quality of cricket that our nation expects," he stated during the post-match press conference.

Shaheen arrived in the very end, just as Pakistan was about to jeopardize their hopes of victory. He prevented Pakistan from suffering another humiliation by forcing the ball into the stands twice.

"The Champions Trophy is approaching, and there aren't many areas where we need to make rapid progress. As a team, we will need to develop and get better. Crowd: they come and help us every time. I appreciate all of the support, everyone. Even at our worst moments, they never fail to come through for us. As a team, we require that. That's what I do. I arrive late in the innings to bat. I simply struck. The group required it. Always aiming for the six," he said in closing.
