The third-world Sabalenka Aryna and the world's top 10 Tunisia's Ons Jabeur will not be competing in the next Olympics in Paris.

At the Ladies Open, the defending Australian Open champion revealed to media that she made the decision to take care of herself and be ready for the hard-court season.

"I feel like I have to take care of my health, especially with all the challenges I've been going through the past few months. "I decided to take care of my health because it's too much for the schedule," Sabalenka stated at Monday's media day, as reported by WTA.

The Olympic tennis competition will take place on clay for the first time since Barcelona in 1992.  Before returning to the hard courts of North America, players will have to transition from the grass of Wimbledon to the clay of Roland Garros for the Olympics.

The hard-court summer will feature the WTA 1000 tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati back-to-back, followed by the US Open, the year's penultimate Grand Slam, when Sabalenka made it to the final.

"I would rather take a little break to ensure that I'm physically and mentally prepared for the hard courts. Additionally, I'll be well-prepared before the hard court season begins. This seems safer and healthier for my body, in my opinion," Sabalenka remarked.

Jabeur has further said that she would not compete in the Olympics in order to avoid being hurt.

"After discussing my attendance at the Olympics in Paris with my medical team, we have determined that the rapid surface change and the body's adaptation needed would risk my knee and endanger the remainder of my season. Regretfully, I will be unable to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris," Jabeur said on social media on Monday.
