Apple Plans Three-Year iPhone Makeover to Stay Ahead in Smartphone Race
Apple is gearing up for a major three-year overhaul of its iPhone, aiming to shake up the smartphone world and keep its edge against fierce competition.
According to a reports the company is set to roll out big design changes starting this September, moving away from the small tweaks of recent years.
This fall, Apple will launch the iPhone 17 lineup, including a new model called the iPhone Air, which will replace the iPhone 16 Plus.
The iPhone Air will sport a slim design in a fresh light blue color and use Apple’s own modem chip for the first time.
However, it might have a smaller battery and ditch the physical SIM card slot.
The iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max will also hit the market with a redesigned camera setup and a new look, with the Pro models available in a bold orange shade.

In 2026, Apple plans to jump into the foldable phone trend with a book-style foldable iPhone, codenamed V68. This model will feature four cameras and bring back Touch ID instead of Face ID. By 2027, Apple is eyeing a futuristic iPhone 20 with curved glass and a seamless, full-screen display that hides all sensors.
With rivals like Google pushing AI features in phones like the Pixel 10, which boasts real-time translations and better photo tools, Apple faces pressure to keep innovating. Some worry the iPhone could start feeling too similar to other phones if it doesn’t stand out.
