YouTube Music App is Receiving Another Update; Here's What's Changed

By Media Infotainment Team | Wednesday, 24 July 2024

YouTube Music is redesigning its artist pages for Android and iOS. This update attempts to modernize and improve the user experience by making the app's interface more compact and visually attractive.

9to5Google has reported the revamp begins with the artist's name being left-aligned alongside the subscriber count, and is complimented by a pill-shaped button for following the artist. This new layout is consistent with the design language used in the 2022 improvements to album and playlist pages.

The updated edition of the app also has new circular buttons that act as smaller touch targets, making navigating easier and more intuitive. Features like launching a radio station and rearranging songs are now neatly positioned next to the follow button. Earlier this month, YouTube Music tried a "play" button in this area. The Latest Release card stays prominently displayed, providing easy access to the artist's most recent work before scrolling down to Top Songs and other feed features.

This update is a server-side deployment, so users will not have to manually update their applications to view the changes. The previous artist page design was from 2019 and has only gotten minimal Material 3 adjustments up until now. This redesign helps the artist pages appear more modern and user-friendly.

In addition to the artist page overhaul, YouTube Music is launching a new "Badges" feature. The Badges area may be accessed by tapping your profile image and is located between "Your Recap" and "Paid memberships."
