Xbox Head Stated Gaming Strategy with this Positive News for PS5, Nintendo Switch
Microsoft will expand its game offerings to other platforms, including the Sony PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, Xbox head Phil Spencer stated in an interview with IGN. Spencer guaranteed Xbox consumers that they will be able to buy or subscribe to more Microsoft titles on competitor platforms. This news follows the recent availability of four Xbox-exclusive games on PS5 and some on Switch.
Microsoft's commitment to cross-platform gaming
Spencer reiterated Microsoft's commitment to make its games available across several platforms. He said, "Our commitment to our Xbox customers is you're going to get the opportunity to buy or subscribe to the game, and we're going to support the game on other screens."You are going to see more of our games on more platforms, and we just see that as a benefit to the franchises that we're building," Spencer stated.
No change in the exclusive approach
Spencer's remark follows his prior denial of any changes to Microsoft's Xbox exclusive approach. In an Xbox podcast earlier this year, he emphasized, "We decided to bring four titles to the other systems, simply four games. Our core exclusive strategy remains unchanged. "This remark emphasizes that, while a few more Microsoft titles will be released on rival platforms, Xbox's basic exclusivity policy may remain unchanged.
Microsoft's newest event included new games
Microsoft recently introduced a selection of new Xbox titles at its Xbox titles Showcase event, including Doom: The Dark Ages and Gears of War: E-Day. Interestingly, the phrase "exclusive" was not utilized during the event, indicating a change in the company's marketing strategy.
