Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan has performed outstandingly well at the box office during its first six days. Released on October 10, the cop drama crossed over Rs 100-crore mark in just four days. The film continues to attract viewers, earning Rs 4.25 crore on Tuesday, as reported by Sacnilk. It had an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 18.34% on its second Tuesday. Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, known for his successful films like Jai Bhim, Vettaiyan warily examines police experiences and the denationalization of education in India. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh in prominent roles.

The partnership of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan on screen makes Vettaiyan an exciting hope for film enthusiasts. Both icons of Indian cinema have previously worked together in films like Andha Kanoon, Geraftaar, and Hum. Rajinikanth has often shown his admiration for Big B, considering him an inspiration. Although Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t attend the audio launch event for Vettaiyan, he sent a heartfelt video message. In the message, he reminisced about an incident from the set of Hum and praised Rajinikanth's humble nature. Amitabh Bachchan said, “I used to rest in my AC vehicle while shooting for Hum, and Rajini slept on the floor during breaks. Watching him be so simple, I came out of the vehicle and rested outside”. Vettaiyan marks Amitabh Bachchan's debut in Tamil cinema, and he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with the "supreme of all stars," Rajinikanth. Big B stated, "This is my first Tamil film, and I'm truly honored. Rajinikanth is the supreme of all stars."

During the film's audio launch event, Rajinikanth spoke about his friendship with Big B. He reminisced about a time when Amitabh Bachchan was facing a financial crisis and reached out to Yash Chopra for work. This led to the creation of the iconic character Narayan Shankar in Mohabbatein.Rajinikanth said, “One day, he walked to Yash Chopra's house wearing a monkey cap because he no longer had a driver, as he couldn't pay them. He asked Yash [Chopra] for work. Yash immediately brought a signed cheque and gave it to him, but Amitji declined, saying he would take it only if he was given work. And thus, he received Mohabbatein. Soon, he also got KBC.”
