In a dramatic turn of events at the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Max Verstappen claimed victory and a major championship boost after both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were disqualified post-race for excessive skid plank wear.

Verstappen, driving for Red Bull Racing, took first place on November 22 with a strong performance, while the pair from McLaren originally crossed the finish line ahead of the Dutchman. However, both cars failed the post-race technical inspection, found to have skid planks worn beyond allowable limits a violation of FIA regulations.

With the disqualifications, Verstappen was elevated to the win, followed by George Russell of Mercedes in second and rookie Kimi Antonelli in third, completing the podium.

The result dramatically reshapes the 2025 championship standings. Norris remains the standings leader, but his post-disqualification lead over Piastri and Verstappen has now been reduced, giving Verstappen renewed momentum in the title fight.
