The Raja Saab Day 1 Box Office Report: Prabhas Film Underperforms

By Media Infotainment Team | Friday, 09 January 2026

The Raja Saab box office collection day 1 shows a slower-than-expected start for Prabhas’ latest release, which hit theaters today amid high expectations. Released on Friday with no clash from major South films like Vijay’s Jana Nayagan or Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, the film opened to mixed audience reviews across regions.

As per early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, The Raja Saab box office collection day 1 stands at ₹12.27 crore net from morning shows. Occupancy trends reveal a clear regional divide. The Telugu version recorded a strong 50.92% occupancy so far, while the Hindi version lagged at 7.47%. Tamil markets reported a modest 19.25% occupancy on day one. Trade experts are awaiting afternoon and evening show data to assess momentum.

At the box office, The Raja Saab is mainly competing with the Hindi release Dhurandhar, which posted a solid ₹28 crore net on day one. Despite fan celebrations and packed early shows, reports of chaos surfaced from Hyderabad, where some screenings were reportedly canceled due to crowd management issues. Directed as a horror comedy, The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’ return to the big screen and has drawn comparisons to Akshay Kumar’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Addressing this, producer T. G. Vishwa Prasad told, “We had to design a fantasy keeping India’s biggest star in mind. So, it is significantly different in terms of visual elements as well as the background story.”

With weekend shows ahead, the industry will closely watch whether word of mouth lifts the film’s overall box office performance.
