SPNI's Gaurav Banerjee Advocates Collaboration Over Competition Regarding JioStar
Gaurav Banerjee, speaking to PTI, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Pictures Networks India, revealed that the company is not apprehensive about the competition brought by the JioStar association, but has turned its whole attention to collaborating and finding creative ways to entertain India.
Banerjee remarked on the positive aspect of "certain levels of consolidation in the industry". "However, although Sony has been unsuccessful in the merger with Zee, the company is not closed to any other development proposition. The primary emphasis, for now, is on increasing and fortifying its current business," Banerjee specified.
"We are open to exploring other growth opportunities and would be happy to consider options,” he said.
"India is one of the most significant and important markets for Sony globally, and the reason is clear," Banerjee explained. "It is the most populous country in the world and the fastest-growing major economy."
Banerjee highlighted the company's firm dedication to long-term investment and business growth.
"While I wouldn’t specify a number, we are confident about meeting all resourcing needs," he said.
Emphasizing the industry's evolving nature, Banerjee underscored the importance of prioritizing content to remain competitive.
He added, "We will continue to invest aggressively in content, as we believe it is the most critical investment for our company."
