Special Ops Season 2 Postponed, Kay Kay Menon Announces New Release Date

Special Ops Season 2 Initially meant to release on July 11, 2025, on JioHotstar was delayed by a week to July 18, 2025, lead actor Kay Kay Menon announced in a video on social media. Menon, reprising his legendary character, R&AW officer Himmat Singh, said to the fans in a video that the stalling was beyond the control of those making it, because of the certain circumstances. He gave viewers a promise that all episodes will be released simultaneously on the new date, and it is going to be a season built on action.  

The announcement, shared via JioHotstar’s official Instagram, carried the caption, “We understand you're on the edge of your seat, but thoda aur intezar and it’s going to be worth all the wait! #HotstarSpecials #SpecialOps2.”

Special Ops Season 2 is directed by Shivam Nair and produced by Neeraj Pandey, whose 2020 debut and spin-off Special Ops 1.5 were a success. It is being brought back in a new season with a change of focus towards cyber-terrorism with Himmat Singh being the head of his team to counter the threats to the data security of India by the digital means.

The show boasts of an excellent ensemble cast with some of its key actors, Karan Tacker, Vinay Pathak, Saiyami Kher and Meher Vij returning as well as new faces Prakash Raj and Tahir Raj Bhasin joining in the mix. The show was filmed in global places such as Budapest, Turkey and Georgia, thus making its production value to be high and its drama intense.

Although the cause of the delay has not been revealed yet, the delay has elicited divergent reactions. Not all the fans are satisfied with it, but there are those who can hardly wait to see the typical mixture of spies, action and emotions in the series. Menon talked of Himmat Singh as a burdened hero who fought quieter but more deadly wars and it promised an exciting story.

The second season of Special Ops will be available on JioHotstar on July 18, 2025, so fans of this wonderful spy story will have an opportunity to watch their favorite show in a new episode.
