Shin Chan Makes Its Debut in Indian Theatres via TV Asahi

TV Asahi, a television network, is all geared up to release two eagerly awaited Shin chan films in Indian cinemas for the first time. Shin chan Our Dinosaur Diary will hit the screens in May 2025, while Shin chan The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers in India will release during the Diwali season in October 2025.

The movies will be released by PVR INOX Pictures Limited, India's biggest multiplex chain, and released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Japanese with English subtitles, taking the reach of the popular franchise to viewers around the country.

Since 2006, when it was first shown on Indian television, Shin chan has been a part of family life, shown daily on Hungama TV and currently streaming on Sony YAY! since May 2024. The series has become the best-selling international animation IP in India, with evidence indicating that ten percent of children in India have viewed the show.

Internationally, the Shin chan franchise has managed to entertain over 30 years, with over 820 episodes aired in over 45+ countries, among them Spain, Germany, Portugal, Mexico, and Chile. With 32 movies released thus far, the franchise has accounted for over $350 million in Japanese box office sales.

To enhance the excitement for the Indian audience, we have dubbed the movies into Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. As part of the celebrations for Kasukabe City's twinning with Mushibai, India, a huge dance competition is held, and a trip to India is the ultimate prize. Shin chan and his friends enter to win, which takes them on a roller coaster ride around India. Things however get a surprise twist when Bo buys an unknown backpack that gives him a turn into a dictator with extra abilities. Now it's the task of Shin chan and the Kasukabe Defense Force to thwart him before chaos erupts!
