Samsung Launch Cloud Gaming Platform 'Gaming Hub' for Galaxy Smartphones
Samsung has launched its mobile cloud gaming platform, Gaming Hub, initially available in North America. This platform allows Samsung Galaxy smartphone users to stream and play native Android games directly from the cloud, without needing to download them to the device. After being in beta testing since last year, the company has not yet announced a specific release date for Gaming Hub in India, but it is expected to expand to more regions in the coming months.
Samsung Gaming Hub: Details
Samsung stated that users will have the ability to stream across all Galaxy devices mobile Android games without requiring downloading, Samsung said about the cloud gaming mobile platform it has developed. It gave the reason for freeing memory from the device as well as eliminating issues concerning performance differences across hardware. And Samsung also said that streaming games via the Gaming Hub is instant, without lengthy or complicated onboarding procedures attached to it.
The platform is also found in Samsung's Galaxy Store app. According to them, if a click on an ad for an Android-native game is made, it will lead to the Galaxy Store which would enable instant play with no hang-ups or setting up an account.
In a press note announcing the platform’s availability, Vice President and Head of Game Services at Samsung, Jong Woo said, “In the long run, we believe our cloud game platform will not only change the way Samsung Galaxy gamers play mobile games but disrupt how publishers commercially scale their games within our device ecosystem.”
While this implies that the cloud gaming platform may one day extend to other Samsung devices including smart televisions, there have currently been no announcements regarding the inclusion of third-party Android games-engineered for platforms other than mobile-on the cloud. Other cloud services like Xbox Cloud Gaming already allow console-level games to work on Samsung Smart TVs and other devices.
