Royal Challengers Bengaluru Edge Out Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 Nail-Biter
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a thrilling six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The victory catapulted RCB to the top of the points table, while fans were treated to a masterclass from Virat Kohli, Krunal Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
DC batted first after RCB chose to bowl, managing 162/8 in their 20 overs. Abishek Porel got things rolling with a fiery 28 off 11 balls, and KL Rahul held the innings together with a steady 41. Tristan Stubbs’ late flurry of 34 off 18 gave DC a fighting total. RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar shone with 3/33, while Josh Hazlewood grabbed two wickets. Krunal Pandya bowled tightly, picking up a key scalp to keep DC in check.
Chasing 163, RCB stumbled early, quickly losing Jacob Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal, and Rajat Patidar. But Kohli, playing in his home city, anchored the innings with a calm 51 off 47 balls. He found a perfect partner in Pandya, who smashed an unbeaten 73 off 47, including his first half-century of the season. Their 119-run stand turned the game, and Tim David’s quickfire 19 off five balls, with a six and three fours, sealed the deal in 18.3 overs at 165/4.
This win, RCB’s sixth on the road this season, underscored their playoff credentials. Kohli’s sixth fifty of IPL 2025 briefly put him atop the run-scoring charts, while Pandya’s all-round brilliance earned him Player of the Match. DC’s Axar Patel bowled superbly, taking 2/19, but Pandya’s aggression proved too much.
After the game, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar hailed the team’s bowling and smart batting, while Pandya thanked Kohli for his support during their partnership. The loss snapped DC’s run, shaking up the playoff race. With Kohli’s homecoming and Pandya’s heroics, the Delhi crowd went home buzzing from an unforgettable IPL showdown.
