Reliance Jio has announced the revision of its Rs 949 prepaid recharge pack, which includes a free subscription to Jio Hotstar. The new benefit is expected to increase the worth of the pack, giving consumers access to content across various channels.

What the Rs 949 plan provides

The Rs 949 pack has a validity of 84 days and offers 2GB of daily high-speed 4G data along with unlimited 5G data. Users will also get unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day. The standout feature of this plan is the free Jio Hotstar Mobile subscription worth Rs 149, where users get to watch live sports, the latest movies, and Disney+ originals on a single mobile number. Streaming, however, is limited to 720p.

This is just one part of Jio's overall strategy to provide greater value to customers by including popular OTT services as part of its recharge plans. The Jio Hotstar Mobile plan is an ad-supported model, but subscribers can upgrade to premium plans with improved streaming quality and extra features. The Super plan, costing Rs 299 for three months, allows streaming at 1080p on mobile, web, and smart TVs with up to two devices supported at once. The Premium plan, costing Rs 499 for three months, allows an ad-free experience with up to 4K resolution streaming.

With this addition, Jio is expecting to put more users on its platform with an end-to-end entertainment bundle that is focused on satisfying the growing demand for digital content. Jio Hotstar is being added at the right time, given it is the sole OTT service for live-streaming large cricket matches like the ICC Champions Trophy and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
