Reliance Jio Extends JioTV+ Access to Multiple TVs Without Extra STB Required
Reliance Jio has extended its JioTV+ OTT aggregation service to support a huge range of smartTVs, which will allow existing JioFiber and JioAirFiber customers to access the service on Multiple TVs without the need for an extra Set-Top Box.
Existing JioFiber users can download the JioTV+ app on smartTvs, granting them access to the service across multiple smart Tvs in the home with just one Jio connection. Both JioFiber and JioAirFiber come together with the same IPTV STBs.
Experts make sure that this move will help broaden the reach of JioTV+, which provides a unified platform for discovering and streaming content from multiple OTT services through a single interface, before it is available only on the Jio STB.
"When it comes to the in-home experience itself, now we have a great product called Jio TV+, which was a unified experience to discover all of the OTT services that are available, especially on the Jio STB, so that from a single interface, users can discover and consume all their favorite shows and movies and so on, without having to search and jump across multiple apps and so on," Kiran Thomas, President, Reliance Jio Infocomm, said during the company's Q2 earnings call.
"So, this particular service, which was till now on the Jio STB and a very well-loved offering, we have now also enabled that to be available on other smart TV platforms. So, what that means is that if you are a JioFiber or Jio AirFiber customer, then the same Jio TV+ application that is available on the STB is now also available for additional televisions that you may have in your home without requiring an additional STB or an additional connection. So, it just becomes an additional app that you can download on your smart TV without having to take additional efforts to enable that to happen," he further added.
In Q2, the JioTV+ app was made available for free download on all leading smart TVs without additional JioAirFiber/JioFiber connection. This JioTv+ 2-in-1 offer allows users to connect multiple Tvs with one connection and access 800+ digital TV channels and 13+ OTT apps.
Karan Taurani, Senior Vice President at Elara Capital, stated that JioTV+ is assured for an important boost in its user base with this move. He spotlighted Jio’s vast content offerings, which not only include its own in-house productions but also collaborated with major players like Sony and Zee, offering a rich “app-in-app” experience.
