Real Madrid Edge Barcelona 2-1 in Thrilling El Clasico
The first El Clásico of the season delivered everything fans hoped for: goals, drama, and edge-of-your-seat tension. Real Madrid came out on top, beating Barcelona 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu to stay perfect in La Liga under new boss Xabi Alonso.
The game started fast. Just 10 minutes in, Jude Bellingham threaded a perfect pass through Barcelona’s defense, and Kylian Mbappé calmly rolled the ball past keeper Wojciech Szczęsny to make it 1-0. The stadium erupted.
Barcelona didn’t back down. In the 40th minute, Marcus Rashford whipped in a low cross from the left, and Fermín López tapped it in at the back post to tie the game at 1-1.
But Madrid answered right back. Three minutes later, Bellingham pounced on a loose ball in the box and poked it home to restore the lead at 2-1 just before halftime.

The second half was just as intense. Madrid won a penalty early on, but Mbappé’s shot was saved by Szczęsny—a huge moment. Barcelona pushed hard for an equalizer. López nearly scored again, but Thibaut Courtois made a sharp save. Alejandro Balde missed a close chance, and Lamine Yamal sent a shot over the bar.
As the clock ticked down, Madrid brought on Rodrygo for Vinícius Júnior and dug in deep. Nine minutes of stoppage time gave Barcelona hope, but Jules Koundé fluffed a golden chance at the far post.
When the final whistle blew, Real Madrid had held on for a 2-1 win—their eighth in nine league games. Bellingham, involved in both goals, was named Man of the Match.
