Real Madrid Beats Real Oviedo in La Liga Showdown
On August 24, 2025, Real Madrid won 3-0 against Real Oviedo in the second match of the La Liga season 2025-26 at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere.
Kylian Mbappe provided the highlight with two goals, and Vinicius Junior scored at the end to secure the win and keep Xabi Alonso team undefeated this season.
The match was a major encounter to Oviedo who had returned to the first division in Spain after a long period of 25 years. The local supporters showed an amazing amount of energy, but the star format of Real Madrid was too strong.
In the 37 th minute, Mbappe scored the first goal cutting through the heart of the defense with a precision pass by Arda Guler and hitting an unmistakable shot past the goalkeeper Aaron Escandell.
Oviedo players and supporters felt aggrieved that Aurelien Tchouameni had not received a foul call when he brought down Leander Dendoncker in the build-up, but the goal was allowed to stand.

Just two minutes later, substitute Vinicius Junior broke forward and set up Mbappe for his second goal. In stoppage time, Brahim Diaz picked out Vinicius, who calmly slotted home to wrap up the 3-0 scoreline.
Xabi Alonso, Madrid’s head coach, made bold lineup choices after their 1-0 win over Osasuna, resting Vinicius and Trent Alexander-Arnold in favor of Rodrygo Goes and Dani Carvajal. The moves paid off, with Vinicius making a big impact off the bench, scoring and assisting in just 30 minutes. “We played a serious, complete game,” Alonso said after the match.
