Rajasthan Royals Edge Out Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 Thriller

On March 30, 2025 at Guwahati, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) achieved their first IPL 2025 season win by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 runs in Match 30. During RR's opening batting inning, they managed to score 182 runs for nine wickets against CSK's choice to field first. During their run chase of 183, CSK's start was unstable as Rachin Ravindra got out for a scoreless ball by Jofra Archer in his maiden over. Ruturaj Gaikwad maintained the innings with his fifty, but Hasaranga's wrist-spinner eventually steered the match in RCB's favor. The Sri Lankan cricketer took down 4 crucial batsmen by using his famous 'wrong' delivery which showed that CSK's batting order had weaknesses. The final over belonged to RR's Sandeep Sharma as he delivered a nerve-steady performance to clamp down on CSK’s late batting surge that produced 48 runs from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni. The last over saw Sandeep defend 19 balls while dismissing Dhoni with his first legitimate delivery, which secured victory for his side as CSK scored 176 for 6 runs.

Stand-in captain Riyan Parag expressed his satisfaction about RR's bowling performance by acknowledging their batting struggle amounted to a "20 runs short" effect. The opening stretch is what Gaikwad regretted not taking advantage of during the powerplay. The victory enables RR to escape the bottom position of the table while CSK experiences their second straight loss due to batting order struggles.
