PUMA and HYROX Spark a Fitness Movement in India
PUMA has teamed up with HYROX to bring an exciting global fitness race to India, fueling a growing passion for functional fitness.
HYROX combines eight 1-kilometer runs with challenging workouts like SkiErg, Sled Push, and Wall Balls. Since its debut in Mumbai, the event has taken off, with Delhi’s recent race seeing 50% more participants, including athletes from 41 countries. Another race is set for Mumbai this September.
“India’s enthusiasm for HYROX is organic and inspiring,” said Karthik Balagopalan, managing director of PUMA India. “People are eager to challenge themselves, and we’re thrilled to support this movement.”
As a global HYROX partner since 2017, PUMA has launched special Nitro footwear and Ultra V apparel to boost performance. In Delhi, over half the racers wore PUMA gear, showing its popularity.

Deepak Raj, HYROX India’s country head, wants to make the race India’s biggest and most inclusive endurance event. “HYROX fills a gap for gym enthusiasts seeking a competitive platform,” he said. Nearly 30% of participants in both races were women, a big step toward inclusivity. The upcoming Mumbai event aims to draw athletes from 50 countries, with 15–20% from abroad.
While PUMA remains a big name in cricket, sponsoring stars like Virat Kohli, it’s also diving into sports like running and HYROX. The Delhi race included cricketers like Ravi Bishnoi and Olympian PR Sreejesh. PUMA also backs marathons in Vadodara, New Delhi, and Ladakh, and runs weekly community fitness programs across India.
HYROX has partnered with brands like Red Bull and MyProtein to keep the momentum going. “We’re building scalable communities and enhancing athlete experiences,” Raj said. Gym owners are excited, too, using HYROX to keep members engaged.
