PSG Crushes Inter Miami 4-0 to Reach Club World Cup Quarterfinals
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) displayed a masterclass, beating Inter Miami 4-0 in their Round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The victory confirmed the position of PSG in the quarterfinals and shocked Lionel Messi and his team with an unpleasant rejection in a one-sided game.

Joao Neves played the leading role by scoring two goals, the first was a header with a free kick in the 6 th minute, and the second was in the 39 th minute to increase PSG lead. Achraf Hakimi doubled the misery right before halftime as he blasted a goal when his initial shot bounced off the crossbar. Things got even worse when Tomas Aviles obliged an own goal in what turned out to be a very brutal first half to Miami. The intensity of PSG press and the possession of 73 percent meant Miami were not getting out of their half.
Inter Miami failed to find their footing even despite the presence of such legendary soccer players as Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba on the field. Messi, playing against his former coach Luis Enrique, had some magic Moments in the 2nd half as he chipped an intelligent pass to Suarez and a header denied by PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. That was not sufficient to change the tide. Both Messi and Vitinha of PSG engaged in an unpleasant clash towards the end of the first half.
It was full of 66,000 fans wearing the pink jerseys of the Inter Miami team, or shouting support to Messi in the Argentinian colors hoping to see a spark. However, the aspirants of the PSG team such as Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola continued to cause the pressure. The coach of Miami, Javier Mascherano, described the first half of the game as a disaster and he also gave credit to his side when they did not give up.

With Bayern beating Flamengo 4-2, PSG now looks forward to a blockbuster quarterfinal against Bayern Munich on July 5 at Atlanta. Such display puts PSG as a possible title holder of the Club World Cup.
