Phil Spencer Shares 'Good News' for Nintendo Switch 2 Fans

Microsoft is reportedly planning to bring several Xbox games to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Expected titles include Microsoft Flight Simulator, Diablo 4, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This rumor follows praise from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, who expressed his support for the new console and confirmed the company's intention to back the platform. As recently acquired by Microsoft, Activision also agreed to distribute Call of Duty games on the Switch 2 in accordance with the agreement made with the FTC. During an interview last week, Spencer confirmed that Xbox would be supportive of the platform and that he has exchanged messages with Nintendo's president since the announcement of the Switch 2.

In an interview with Gamertag Radio, Spencer stated, “I was exchanging emails with Furukawa-san, the CEO of Nintendo. I gave him a big congrats and said my old eyes appreciate the larger screen.”

Nintendo, in their innovation, and what they mean in this industry… I just always applaud the moves that they make. They did a little flash video, and I know we’ll get more detail over time. I’m really looking forward to supporting them with the games that we have, and I just think they’re a really important part of this industry. It’s hard with what’s publicly out there right now for everybody to get their [heads] around it, but who would ever bet against the success of that team? They are just masterful in what they do, Switch is a massive success, and I think Switch 2 will be as well,” he added.

Xbox in February 2024 declared that it was changing strategy by bringing Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Later, Microsoft announced Doom: The Dark Ages for Xbox, PC, and PS5, confirmed a PS5 release for its upcoming Indiana Jones game, and announced The Outer Worlds 2 for PS5. A new Ninja Gaiden game is also coming for PS5 later this year.
