Paris Olympics 2024: Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain Draw tough Opponents in Women's Boxing Draws are Revealed
India’s women boxing stars NIkhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain have been drawn against challenging opponents in their respective weight categories for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Nikhat, a world champion boxer, will face Germany’s Carina Kloezter in the opening round of the women’s 50 kg boxing. According to the Olympics draw, her following match could potentially be against China’s Wu Yu, the defending Asian Games champion.
In the event that Nikhat successfully defeats her Chinese opponent, who is both the top seed in the women’s 50 kg category for Paris 2024 and reigning world champion in the 52 kg division, she could potentially face Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat or Uzbekistan’s Sabina Bobokulova in the quarterfinals. Earlier this year, Nikhat faced Sabina in the Strandja Memorial final and suffered a loss. Sabina had also defeated Wu Yu in the semifinals of that tournament. Chuthamat, who secured a silver medal at the Asian Games in Hanzhou last year, had previously defeated Nikhat in the semifinals.
Lovlina Borgohain Faces a challenging Road to medal success
Lovlina Borgohain, the bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020, will commence her campaign in the women’s 75 kg category against Norway’s Sunniva hofstad. Should she advance, she could potentially face China’s Li Qian in the quarter-finals, who defeated her in the Asian games final for the same weight category last year. Qian is also a two-time Olympic medalist.
In the women's 57 kg category, Jaismine progresses to the second round, her next opponent will be Amina Zidani from France, the third seeded competitor and current European champion in this weight class.

Amit Pangal and Nishant Dev have received byes in the first round of men’s boxing
In the men’s boxing event, Amit panghal and Nishant Dev will begin their quest in the 51 kg and 71 kg categories respectively, advancing directly to the round of 16 after receiving byes in the opening round.
Amit’s first match will be against Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba, the bronze medalist from the 2022 Commonwealth Games, while Nishant is set to compete against Jose Rodriguez Tenorio from Ecuador.
The boxing competitions at Paris 2024 will commence with preliminary rounds starting on July 27 at the Arena Paris Nord.
