NTR Jr's Devara has surpassed Prabhas' Salaar in premiere day sales in the USA
NTR Jr. is returning to the big screen as a solo lead for the first time in six years with Kortala Siva's Devara: Part 1, which marks the Telugu debut of Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. Initially intended as a standalone film, the creators decided during production that it should be split into two parts, and they have cast Bobby Deol as the antagonist for the second installment.
The film is just four days away from its release, and NTR Jr. was recently seen at the airport heading to the United States, where it has received an incredible response. So far, Devara has sold over 61,000 tickets, generating $1.80 million across more than 650 locations.
With this achievement, the film has surpassed the record previously held by Prabhas' Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, which collected around $1.50 million in the USA, making Devara the highest premiere day sale of 2023. It will be interesting to see if Devara can outdo Prabhas' last film, Kalki 2898 AD, which earned $2 million in the United States.
Devara’s break-even point for North America is set at $5.5 million, and the film has already achieved total sales of $2.5 million with four days remaining until its release. It will be intriguing to see how quickly the film reaches its break-even point and begins to turn a profit.
