Neeraj Chopra Secures Second Place in Poland Event Behind Julian Weber

Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second to Julian Weber of Germany at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial meet on Friday, despite not being at his best. Chopra, 27, was in third place until the penultimate round, when he sent his spear 84.14m in his sixth and final attempt to move up to second. His second and fifth throws measured 81.28m and 81.80m, respectively. The remaining three were foul attempts. The competition was held under overcast skies following rain at the Silesian Stadium earlier in the day.

Anderson Peters of Grenada, a two-time world champion, finished third with a best throw of 83.24 metres. In Doha, he also finished third.

This was Neeraj Chopra's first best throw of less than 85m in an event since winning gold at the 2024 Federation Cup in Bhubaneswar with 82.27m.

He finally broke the 90m barrier with a throw of 90.23m in Doha, but Weber took the lead with his final attempt of 91.06m.
