Mumbai Indians (MI) secured their spot as the fourth and final team in the IPL 2025 playoffs with a commanding 59-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 63rd match at Wankhede Stadium. The match, marked by Suryakumar Yadav’s scintillating batting and lethal bowling from Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah, showcased MI’s championship pedigree, while DC’s dream run unraveled, ending their playoff hopes.

Key Highlights:

  • Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 73 and Bumrah’s fiery spell powered MI to a 59-run win over DC and an IPL 2025 playoff spot
  • MI crushed DC’s playoff hopes with an all-round performance at Wankhede, led by SKY’s fireworks and Bumrah-Santner’s bowling masterclass
  • Delhi Capitals collapse chasing 181, as Mumbai Indians roar into the playoffs with one league match left

MI, asked to bat first after losing the toss, racked up an impressive 180/5 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav lit up the stadium with an unbeaten 73 off 43 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. Ryan Rickelton chipped in with 25, Will Jacks added 21, Tilak Varma scored 27, and Naman Dhir’s explosive 24 late in the innings gave MI a strong total. DC’s Mukesh Kumar took 2/48, but their bowlers couldn’t stop MI’s momentum in the final overs.

In reply, DC’s batting collapsed to 121 all out. Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner were unstoppable, each grabbing three wickets. Bumrah’s searing yorkers took out KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Abishek Porel early, leaving DC reeling. Santner’s crafty spin on a sluggish Wankhede pitch further crushed their hopes, with a poor shot from Kuldeep Yadav and a stumping of Vipraj Nigam wrapping up the innings. The defeat marked the end of DC’s season.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya was thrilled with the team’s performance. “This win shows our character. Suryakumar’s innings and our bowlers’ execution were spot-on,” he said. DC’s Axar Patel admitted their batting collapsed under pressure, despite a strong start to the season with five wins in six games.
