MSEED Launched to Foster Creative Business Leaders in Events, Entertainment, and Design
With over a hundred events and the presence of media and design industry leaders, the Bhavan's College Management School of Events, Entertainment & Design (MSEED) was launched at Bhavan's College in Andheri West, Mumbai. The institute is headed by Deepak Chaudhary, a prominent figure in the events and events education sectors, known for founding India’s premier event school, Eva Live, among other initiatives. On the academic front, the institute is guided by Prof. Ujjwal K. Chowdhury, a respected media academic and former Dean of Symbiosis, Amity, Pearl Academy, and Whistling Woods, who serves as MSEED's Director General. The leadership team also includes Joint MD Vinod Janardhan, founder of Team Rustic; Director Jimmy Choudhary, who runs Eventfaqs and WOW Awards; Executive Director Jateen Rajput, former head of event management academics at several top institutes; along with media entrepreneurs Chirag Shah and Mustafa Rangoonwala.
Dr. Zarine Bathena, Principal of Bhavan's College, warmly welcomed the newest addition to the Bhavan's ecosystem, expressing hopes for a groundbreaking journey ahead, similar to the success of other institutions on the campus like SP Jain Management School and Sardar Patel Institute of Technology. The launch event featured a distinguished lineup of industry leaders discussing various aspects of creative business, including FICCI AVGC Forum Chairman Ashish Kulkarni, renowned filmmaker Ketan Anand, Laqshya Media Group Chairman Alok Jalan, Times of India Group HR Head Amit Das, founder of the Shamiana Short Films Initiative Cyrus Dastoor, communication consultant Amitesh Banerjee, and Prof. Joy Chowdhury, learning partner at UniMarconi University in Rome, Italy.
The new academy will offer Mumbai University-approved Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in events, media, and design, along with advanced PG Diplomas in event management, entertainment, communication, and fashion business management. Additionally, post-graduate students will have the option to pursue a dual MBA degree from UniMarconi University, Rome, Italy. All programs will commence in July 2025.
"A good institute needs a great infrastructure provided to MSEED by Bhavan's College, a good recognition which is from Mumbai University in this case, and a powerful eco-system which is provided with the industry led learning at MSEED. We are hopeful of making a marked contribution to India's creative soft power," noted Deepak Chaudhary, MD and Founder, EVA Live in his opening comments.
"MSEED brings in the collective wisdom of a few eminent educational institution-builders and creative business entrepreneurs, and promises a hospital-medical college model of learning where education and its application through live projects shall go hand in hand," noted Director General Prof Ujjwal K Chowdhury.
"Events and experiential marketing in India might actually have a turnover perhaps more than that of TV and cinema industries if calculated factually. Together with animation & gaming-based entertainment, events industry is poised to make a huge economic and employment impact in India of tomorrow," opined the AVGC evangelist and government's animation-gaming policy-adviser, Ashish Kulkarni.
Ketan Anand reflected on the evolution of Indian cinema over the past fifty years, from the days of Heer Ranjha to today’s promising era of technology-driven storytelling. HR head Amit Das emphasized the need for creative talent capable of leveraging emerging technologies to innovate in storytelling, media outreach, and the monetization of both. MSEED aims to launch a nationwide campaign highlighting the creative business aspects of events, media, and design, along with the diverse learning opportunities it offers.
