On December 10th, Mobile Premier League made an announcement on the acquisition of CloudFeather Games, a provider of game development tools for improving its technological capabilities. However, the financial details of this deal have not been disclosed by the company.

CloudFeather Games, founded in 2021 by Romi Chandra and Yash Chandra, provides game developers with tools for real-money gaming and Web3. The company offers a variety of tech infrastructure solutions, including multi-card game networks, wallet integration systems, advanced liquidity management tools, and software development kits focused on monetization.

Chandra stated, "Joining MPL marks an exciting chapter for our team. We have always admired MPL’s vision and scale, and we are eager to contribute to its continued growth and innovation.”

“Together, we aim to push the boundaries of what is possible in skill-based gaming, ensuring that millions of users experience the best in gaming technology,” he added.

In June 2022, the startup secured USD 1.25 million in seed funding from Lumikai, a venture fund specializing in gaming and interactive media.

Further, Kislay Shashwat, Principal at Lumikai, stated, “Romi and Yash have demonstrated an ability to build scalable, high-impact solutions for the skill-gaming industry. At Lumikai, we have witnessed their journey from ideation to execution and now exit."

MPL said it would leverage the startup's technology stack to increase the gaming experience for its more than 120 million users in India, the United States and Nigeria.

"Their technical expertise will further strengthen our product roadmap... Their proven track record in building scalable gaming infrastructure aligns perfectly with our goal of constantly improving platform stability, game performance, and seamless player experiences" MPL COO Namratha Swamy noted.

MPL was founded in 2018 and allows users to play in open or paid competitions in more than 60 games, such as fantasy sports, sports, puzzle, casual, and board games via Android and iOS apps.

M-League, the parent company of MPL, is the owner of a German-based card and board game studio called GameDuell and has acquired Blast+, which publishes free-to-play games.

It also incubated Mayhem Studios in 2022. The mobile gaming studio, which plans to develop big- budget games, is working on Underworld Gang Wars, a battle royale rooted in India.

The company declared an upturn in revenue by 22 percent standing at USD 130 million in FY24. It again broke even with adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation amounting to USD 0.2 million.
