Marvel Marks 30 Years of Age of Apocalypse with New X-Men Series

Marvel Comics is gearing up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the beloved Age of Apocalypse storyline with a brand-new, six-part X-Men series called X-Men of Apocalypse, hitting shelves in September 2025. Jeph Loeb, who helped shape the original 1995 epic, is back as writer, teaming up with Eisner-nominated artist Simone Di Meo to bring fans an exciting return to this fan-favorite alternate reality.

For those unfamiliar, Age of Apocalypse takes place in a grim alternate universe (Earth-295) where Charles Xavier’s death allows the villainous Apocalypse to seize control of the world. In this reality, Magneto leads a battered X-Men team in a desperate fight for survival. The new series picks up right after the original story’s dramatic ending, following alternate-universe X-Men like Gambit, Sabretooth, Wild Child, Blink, Forge, and Morph as they cross into the main Marvel Universe. Their mission? To save their world from destruction. But their arrival sparks tension with the classic X-Men, setting the stage for a conflict that could change both teams forever.

The series kicks off with X-Men of Apocalypse Alpha #1 in September, continues with X-Men of Apocalypse #1-4 starting in November, and wraps up with X-Men of Apocalypse Omega #1. Fans can also look forward to a prelude story in Giant-Size Age of Apocalypse #1 this June, written and drawn by Loeb and Di Meo, to set the scene.

Loeb shared his enthusiasm, saying, “Thirty years ago, The X-Men of Apocalypse took the comics world by storm… Now, for the 30th anniversary, an all-new, all-different story with spectacular art by Simone Di Meo brings us to this uncanny team.” Di Meo called working on the project a dream come true, promising some of his best artwork yet.

With a mix of nostalgia, new character designs, and tough moral choices, X-Men of Apocalypse is set to thrill longtime fans and newcomers alike. For more info, check out marvel.com or swing by your local comic shop.
