Modric, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, has written his name in Real Madrid’s history books, winning 28 trophies, more than any other player at the club. His collection boasts six UEFA Champions League titles, four La Liga trophies, six FIFA Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, two Copa del Rey titles, and five Spanish Super Cups. “It’s time to move on. I never wanted this day to come, but that’s life and football—everything has its season,” Modric posted on Instagram, his words full of emotion.
Since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 for £30 million, Modric has played 590 games, scored 43 goals, and been the soul of Real Madrid’s greatest moments. His magic touch helped secure three consecutive Champions League titles from 2016 to 2018 under Zinedine Zidane, and he carried Croatia to the 2018 World Cup final. “Luka’s talent and spirit will live on in the hearts of Real Madrid fans forever,” said club president Florentino Pérez.

Stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Jude Bellingham have shared heartfelt tributes, showing just how much Modric means to the team. His departure is the end of a golden era, but his legacy at Real Madrid will shine on.
