Lord of the Mysteries Anime Set to Premiere in July 2025
The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Lord of the Mysteries, based on the popular Chinese web novel by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, is slated to debut on July 7, 2025, as announced by Tencent Animation. This donghua, produced by B.CMAY Pictures, promises to bring the intricate steampunk and supernatural world of Klein Moretti to life, captivating fans with its rich storytelling and stunning visuals.
Zhou Mingrui wakes up as Klein Moretti in a Victorian world packed with steam-powered gadgets, airships, and creepy mystical stuff like potions and tarot cards. Klein’s journey to become a Beyonder—a super-powered being—throws him into a web of secret societies and ancient churches. The first season, with 13 episodes and two bonus specials, will dive into the novel’s opening 14 chapters, kicking off what’s planned as a five-season epic.
B.CMAY Pictures, the folks behind hits like The King’s Avatar, has dropped three jaw-dropping trailers since August 2023. The latest one, released in March 2025, has fans losing it over the mix of slick 2D and 3D animation, showing off Klein’s supernatural powers and a moody, steampunk city. Seriously, it looks gorgeous.
For now, the show will stream in Mandarin on Tencent Video, WeTV, and Aurora TV, but global fans are crossing their fingers for a Crunchyroll release if it blows up. It’s going head-to-head with big 2025 anime like Kaiju No. 8 and Dandadan, proving Chinese donghua is ready to steal the spotlight.
X is buzzing with fans geeking out over the trailers and praying the anime nails the novel’s vibe. “This could be the next big thing!” one post raved. With its mix of mystery, magic, and adventure, Lord of the Mysteries is shaping up to be a total game-changer when it lands this summer. Mark your calendars!
