Kolkata Knight Riders Outclass Chennai Super Kings

Kolkata Knight Riders brought a commanding eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings during their April 11 IPL 2025 clash. Narine became the game-maker through batting and bowling excellence while CSK suffered from their fifth consecutive loss and their all-time lowest score during home games.

The CSK batting session started with difficulties against the challenging pitch during the first round. Narine captured 3 wickets while giving away just 13 runs to dominate the match as KKR's bowlers completed the 9-wicket defeat of Chennai by allowing them only 103 runs in 20 overs. The partnership of Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway ended early when Spencer Johnson and Vaibhav Arora dismissed them without much damage. MS Dhoni took over captaincy from the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad before making 1 off 4 balls. The pair of Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell limited the CSK batters to one of their all-time lowest scoring performances.

Chasing 104, KKR made it look like a walk in the park, sealing the deal in just 10.1 overs at 107/2. Narine set the tone with a blazing 44 off 18 balls, hammering five huge sixes. Quinton de Kock played it smart with an unbeaten 23, and Ajinkya Rahane (20) calmly saw it through. CSK’s bowlers, like Anshul Kamboj (1/19) and Ravichandran Ashwin (0/30), had no answers for KKR’s firepower, resulting in Chennai’s heaviest defeat by balls remaining (59) in IPL history.

This win shot KKR up to third in the IPL 2025 standings, giving them a real spring in their step. CSK, on the other hand, dropped to ninth, with their batting woes piling on the pressure. “They completely outplayed us,” admitted CSK coach Stephen Fleming post-match. KKR’s looking sharp for their next game, but CSK’s got some serious soul-searching to do to turn their season around.
