Kalki 2 & Salaar 2 Delayed? Prabhas Postpones Shoot for New Film

Prabhas has two highly anticipated films in his lineup—Kalki 2 and Salaar 2. While earlier reports suggested that the South superstar would soon begin shooting for both projects, it is now being reported that there may be a delay before he starts working on Nag Ashwin and Prashanth Neel’s directorial ventures.

According to current reports, Prabhas has signed a new film with Prasanth Varma, and he is apparently undergoing a look test for this project; shooting is expected to start soon. Meanwhile, Prashanth Neel plans to begin shooting for Salaar 2 only in late 2026 and he is busy with another project. However, there has been no official statement from either Salaar 2 or Kalki 2 team about the delay in the films.

Last December, it was also reported that the Kalki 2 delay might be delayed too, as Deepika Padukone was busy with her baby girl, Dua. At an event, when the paparazzi questioned the actress about the Kalki 2 shoot, she said that she was not in a hurry to take up her work commitments and did not want to leave her little princess with a nanny. “I will raise my daughter myself, just the way my mom raised me," Deepika said.

Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire is directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films. The film is about Deva, played by Prabhas, an exiled prince from the imaginary city-state of Khansaar. He reunites with Varadha, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran, his childhood friend who is now a prince with a coup. Both try to tackle the political intrigue and rebellion to secure Varadha's rule. Released on December 22, 2023, it became a massive box-office success.

Another film, Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika, was released on June 27, 2024. The post-apocalyptic universe in which it is situated centers on Ashwatthama, who has been cursed with endless life, and is seeking redemption for his actions in defending Sumathi, the mother of Kalki, Lord Vishnu's final avatar. To save the unborn savior, the two must travel the dismal atmosphere ruled over by Yaskin.
