JioTV OS, JioHome, and Jio TV+ to Redefine Entertainment and Home

Reliance Jio is widening its aim beyond telecommunications and entering the home entertainment sector. During the virtual Annual General Meeting on August 29, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Infocomm Limited, revealed a range of new products and features designed to transform entertainment and connected living in India. Ambani initiated JioTV OS, JioHome, and JioTV+ to elevate home entertainment and smart living experiences. Here’s an overview of all the proclamation from the Reliance Jio Annual General Meeting.

JioTV OS

Jio is poised to launch the JioTV OS, an utterly home-grown operating system designed especially for the Jio Set-Top Box (STB). Akash Ambani points out that this new OS is custom-built to bring a faster, smoother, and more customized user experience. It attributes high-end abilities such as Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, providing a cinema-like experience right in your living room.

JioTV OS goes beyond an enhanced user corporate offer to a comprehensive ecosystem that unification your favorite apps, live TV, and shows into a single, seamless platform, as highlighted at the AGM. The OS integrates with the popular Hello Jio voice assistant, now enhanced with advanced Generative AI technologies. This upgrade enables users to search for content across different apps using simple voice commands like, "Hello Jio, find action movies," or "Open Netflix." The upgraded Hello Jio also supports voice commands for controlling the Jio STB, offering a truly hands-free experience.

JioHome

JioHome is poised to enhance Indian homes with its new IoT (Internet of Things) solutions, making them smarter and more connected. Akash Ambani explained that IoT represents the future of smart homes, authorizing flawless integration of devices such as lights, air conditioners, and security systems. With JioHome IoT solutions, you can enjoy features like your air conditioner automatically turning on when you enter a room or your lights dimming when you start a movie.

These solutions are fully integrated with JioTV OS, enabling seamless coordination among all smart devices in the home. JioHome also supports the latest Matter standard, ensuring compatibility with various smart devices. The JioHome app will act as the central control hub for this ecosystem, providing features such as malware detection and guest Wi-Fi management to ensure both convenience and security.

JioTV+

JioTV+ is set to revolutionize digital entertainment consumption by merging live TV, on-demand shows, and apps into a single, user-friendly platform. It provides access to over 860 live TV channels and content from top OTT apps like Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar, offering an extensive library of entertainment. A key feature is its ability to switch between channels more quickly than ever, ensuring you never miss any of your favorite shows.

What truly distinguishes JioTV+ is its advanced recommendation engine, which offers personalized content suggestions based on your viewing history. The platform also features a Catch-up TV option, enabling users to revisit shows from the past seven days. Additionally, the upcoming Play-Pause function will allow users to pause live TV and resume watching at their convenience.

JioTV+ users can access live cricket match stats, purchase tickets, or switch camera angles without interrupting the broadcast. Social features let users share their viewing activity with friends, join live watch parties, and discuss shows in real-time, enhancing the TV experience with greater connectivity and interactivity.
